Risks of a Faulty Electric Panel

March 20, 2020 by Cliff James

If there’s one thing you don’t want to mess around with in your home, it’s electricity. If you’ve got electrical panel problems, here’s what you need to know about the risks of using a faulty panel.

Risks of a Bad Electrical Panel

As a homeowner, there are a lot of things you need to check every few years or once a decade. Your electrical panel is a good example of this; many homeowners neglect to inspect or replace their electrical panels as often as they need to because they’re simply unaware of how their panel is doing. Since all the electricity that flows through your home is routed through the electrical panel, a bad panel can cause numerous problems. When your electrical panel can’t handle the voltage that’s being sent to it, it becomes a fire hazard. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot you can do to prevent this since electrical panels wear down for lots of different reasons.

Keeping Your Panel Fresh

The fact of the matter is, homeowners have a big job when it comes to creating a safe environment. As far as your electrical panel goes, a panel upgrade is one of the best things you can do to reduce your workload and keep your home safe from fire hazards. Even better, a panel upgrade gives you the opportunity to step up to something newer and more powerful than you had before. If you’re planning on adding any large appliances, tools or electronics that use a lot of electricity, you can address those needs when it comes time to upgrade your electrical panel.

Electrical problems are a huge fire hazard, so fixing them promptly is crucial. Your electrical panel should be replaced at least every 20 to 30 years. If you’re having electrical panels or simply need an upgrade, consider investing in an electrical panel upgrade today.
